OLD GREY CLAY PIPE CIVIL WAR ERA or INDIAN TRADE PIPE.
I purchased this from a gentleman's moving sale. He said he got them back east from a collector.
Great for re-enactors. All you need is the hollow reed to puff your smoke through.
Nice condition - looks like it was never smoked. It's rough around the edges as it should be for an old item. Kindof crude in the clay definitely a working man's pipe.
Measures 3 inches tall by 2 1/2 across the stem to barrel part. I have others in different styles/shapes all clay and will combine shipping.
This looks hand made. An "elbow" style pipes....grey unfinished, no glaze clay. Decorated with slant lines. This was a popular style of pipe head during and after the Civil War.
